Caddie Program

Caddie Program

Caddies may be reserved for use by calling the Golf Shop at (616) 949-0740 at least 24 hours in advance to guarantee service.

CHCC caddies have been thoroughly trained on the rules and etiquette of golf, and they have been instructed to replace divots,
rake out traps, and hold flags, as well as to perform the other duties that make a fine caddie. Please do not hesitate to remind them of their responsibilities should they neglect them.

The CHCC Caddie Program has been a part of our Club's history since inception in 1921. We are proud to be home to numerous Evans Scholars the past 30 years and we urge members to use and support our caddies whenever possible.

  • How to Become a Caddie
    • Potential caddies are required to attend scheduled training sessions and pass a written test on the Western Golf Association Training Manual. Upon successful demonstration of their abilities, the potential caddie will be invited to join our program.

These tough standards are necessary because our caddies must be prepared to assist golfers and enhance their performance. Unprepared or confident caddies are a negative reflection of the entire program.

All inquiries regarding the caddie program and Evans Scholarship should be directed to our Professional Staff:

      Blake Nienhuis
      PGA 1st Assistant Professional
      (616) 949-0740
      Blake@cascadehillscc.com

Please note, a mature attitude is valued on the golf course, and is reflected in potential caddies' initiative and ability to handle their work-related responsibilities. As such, we request parents to allow their children to contact our program on their own accord.
  • Evans Scholarship
    • Every year many young men and women across the country benefit from this scholarship that pays for college tuition and room charges. The Evans Scholarship is only available to caddies who are in genuine need of financial assistance and who have a record of high academic and personal achievements. More than 8,600 Evans Scholars have graduated since its inception in 1930. Today, these men and women enjoy prominent careers in business, science, health care, the arts, and education.

At Cascade Hills, the Board of Directors is committed to both our caddie program and to the promotion and support of the Evans Scholarship program. Each year our professional golf staff and Caddie Master decide which caddies will be given the opportunity to apply.
